Polling the issue

A new ABC News poll was began today to determine if stricter gun control would in fact reduce gun violence in America's streets.

 The questions asked to more than 1000 murderers was:

  "Did you obtain your weapon legally or did you...."

  No responses were recorded since, in each case, the drug dealer being questioned immediately shot the pollster before the question could be completed.

The tragedy in Colorado

The horror of the shooting in Colorado will be hard to shake for all those close to it.  Hopefully, something can be learned from it.

  Unbalanced people exist.  People develop suicidal and homicidal tendancies every single day.  There is little we can do to prevent them from acting upon those feelings.

What we can do is to minimize the tragedy which is the result. 

This man, this 'Holmes' walked into a movie theater.  At midnight, it is a place sure to be full of young people--unsuspecting and helpless.  So far 13 have died.  Thats what happens when a bully is uncontested.

Here's what happens when a bully is resisted:

 God be with the victims and their families.  God bless those strong enough to resist.

Decision time?

Religion can be argued infinitely.  The rules.  The specifics.  The traditions.

Faith, however must be black and white.  If one does not know if he believes in a god, then one does not believe.

A person must come to terms with the manner in which they view the realities of the universe.  It is an accident, or it is not. 

Every generation likes to think that it invented doubt.  That it is the first to consider philosophies.  A generation thinks of those which came before it as living in darkness whereas enlightenment has shined upon theirs. 

To live in fear is to live in doubt.  Anxiety is fed by the unknown.  To go through life without certainty in this is to arrive at one's death with the greatest fear.
